I’ve been movin’ and shakin’ lately! 🕺🏻

So here we go..

Meat and Potatoes

Pretty awesome week, all things considered.

Especially following last week’s devastating newsletter, which you can read here.

In which I gave my breakdown of the flood catastrophe that hit my hometown of Spencer, Iowa.

News snippet

Amidst the confusion and chaos, seemingly out of nowhere, I too experienced some calamity.

While I was unaffected for the most part by the storms, some less literal and more emotional storms were battled.

After the floods did their worst, I found myself in an unhappy relationship.

I’ll spare the details, but it became apparent to me that I needed to let go of this situation & person for good.

That what was going on was no longer healthy for me to continue giving my energy towards.

It sucked.. Literally

Along with it came some sadness, grief, regret, and confusion.

It’s unfortunate, but from that experience, the seeds of courage, expedition, and adventure were planted.

Feeling imbalanced, I sought a remedy only a real journey within can fix.

I picked up and left everything to stay with a friend on the outskirts of Chicago, where we would make our inevitable descent into the city, from without to within in search of truth, answers, and reason.

The train ride into the city opened a portal for me to let go and let in love.

To surrender what was and accept in this very moment what is.

To no longer be chained by an outdated identity based on what I know, or what I knew at the time.

Walking along the bustling sidewalks of Chicago, I found myself shedding a layer.

A layer of soot and mud, like what the flood had left all over our valuable possessions back home in Spencer.

I found myself realizing the same truth that I know to be true at the deepest core root of my being.

The same truth that I knew before, during and after the trip as I write this:

That the true nature of the world is change.

That who I am is constantly changing.

Because Life is constantly changing around us, and we have the choice to either accept it and flow with the change or resist and suffer needlessly.

Because at the end of every trip is the return.
You leave so you can come back.

Changed.

Different as you were.
